Georgiann Eikenbary, crochet pattern designer
I have always been able to sketch pictures.  I painted my first canvas using oils from a paint-by-number set years ago.
I only studied oil painting one semester in 1981 under Steve Heckman, a local artist.  Painting has been displaced by
my primary activity of designing crochet patterns.

My older sister taught me the basic crochet stitches when I was six years old because I pestered her until she did!  My
dear father carved out a small wood crochet hook to fit my little hand, and  I still have this crochet hook.  Due to being
from a large family and not much money I learned to design my own patterns.  Sometimes I amaze myself, and did
when I sat down and designed my Hairpin Lace Doily in only one afternoon.  I then made a collar like the doily, and
then a 43" round tablecloth.  When I design I just get some thread or yarn and some hooks and start crocheting with
an idea in mind of the finished item and I do not look at anyone else's pattern when designing.

More of my work is on display
here.

If you see any crochet patterns designed by me which you would like to purchase please email me at

I have recently published a book,
Hairpin Lace Masterpieces, which contains the patterns for every piece exhibited
here, plus a collar.  It is available at
