There are three main types of pages in this website (plus a few text pages like this one
and the HOME PAGE)
The PREVIEW PAGES show a small image of the art work and include the name of the
artist, the medium, and the title of the work.
The LARGER IMAGE pages present a full-screen size image of the art in JPG format*
The ARTIST'S PROFILE pages present some biographical data about each artist, plus
thumbnail images of all the art that artist is exhibiting in this website.
NAVIGATING THE SITE
The meaning and function of the navigation buttons is obvious on all the pages. There are
two approaches to browsing this site. Both are approached from the HOME PAGE
through the two links, Browse the ARTISTS and Browse the ART. These links are at
the upper left of the easel.
Browsing through the artists is the fastest (in terms of page loading time) way to see all
the art in the exhibit, but the thumbnail images on the artists profile pages are very small
and are intended to serve only as navigation buttons to the full-size images. The artist's
page which opens from this link is arbitrary and changes from time to time.
Browsing through the art is the best approach for a random excursion through the gallery.
Begin this quest by clicking Browse the ART on the home page. Once you are into the
first image in the gallery, the NEXT IMAGE button opens an image by another artist.
Images will not be repeated until every image in the exhibit has been viewed.
PREVIOUS IMAGE works the same in reverse order. (There are about 150 images
exhibited here)
Once the first page of each type of page has been opened, the subsequent pages of the
same type load much faster because all the background and buttons are already on your
computer.
Once you are familiar with the site contents it is convenient to start your browsing from
the Search for a Particular Artist link on the home page.
*JPG format: This is only available in the LARGER IMAGE pages, all the rest of the images on the
site are GIF images. The difference? GIF images display 256 individual colors, and are much
smaller (faster loading) files. JPG images display more than 16 million colors (16,722,216) are much
larger files and take longer to load.
